Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on January 19 1946 in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a domestic worker and Parton is a farmer of the tobacco. At the age of 12, she began performing on Knoxville TV and at 13, she had already begun recording on a small label and appearing at the Grand Ole Opry. She graduated from high school in 1964 and moved to Nashville to begin her country-singing journey. Carl Dean, an asphalt-paving businessman, fell in love with her and they were married on May 30 the 30th of May, 1966. Porter Wagoner hired her in 1967 to appear on his show The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She remained with the show for seven seasons. Their duets became well-known and she was invited to appear with him at the Grand Ole Opry. At the point that her hit song "Joshua" reached #1 in the year 1970, her popularity had eclipsed hers and she struck out on her own while still recording duets alongside his. In 1974, she left the duo to become a solo artist. Dolly became a huge hit as a songwriter/singer. Dolly was honored with numerous Country Music Association awards (1968-1971, 1971, 1975-1976, 1975-1976). The petite (5'0") beauty was an ideal candidate for TV at the time, and by the middle of the 1970s she was appearing frequently on television specials and talk shows prior to launching her own, Dolly (1976). Dolly was awarded her first Grammy award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1977 for "Here You Come Again". Dolly's first movie appearance was in 9-to-5 (1980) in which she earned an Oscar nomination for the title of her song and Grammy awards 2 and 3. She also received Grammy awards 2 and 3, Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for the track "Nine To Five." Further fame was earned through her roles in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and as and Rhinestone (1984) and Rhinestone (1984), with the song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". Dolly Parton Enterprises is her media empire worth over $100 million. In 1986, she launched Dollywood, a Tennessee theme park located in Pigeon Forge. This was to celebrate her Smoky Mountain childhood. She starred as herself on Dolly, the Dolly (1987) television show. In 1988 she was awarded another Grammy: Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals, for "Trio".
